我们本有的自性都是清净的，
但因有了贪欲，爱欲，財欲，色欲，
才把这清净的自性都弄得邋遢了。
这一邋遢就变成黑色茫茫，
没有智慧，没有光明了。
常在黑暗的境界里面看不着光，
生死的疲劳因此而起。
所以，
多欲就是造生死。
Our original nature is pure.
Because of greed, desire for love,
desire for wealth, and desire for sex,
we defile our pure nature.
This defilement is as dark as night,
without wisdom and light.
The weariness of birth and death arises
because we cannot find our way out of this darkness.
So desires create birth and death.
